Summer Research Internship Program for Ph.D. Students

The program, begun in the summer of 2006, is designed for Ph.D. students in economics and finance, who are completing their dissertation work, during the summer before they enter the job market. Throughout the internship, the student's time is fully dedicated to furthering this work.

We are currently offering three internship positions. The internships will be hosted for a period of eight to ten weeks from June through mid-August. The student will be expected to present research, in an informal setting, at the beginning and end of the internship. Remuneration is $1,500 per week. Housing arrangements are the student's responsibility. Applicants working in all fields of economics and finance are welcome.

The application deadline is April 8 2009; applications can be sent to research_phdintern@ny.frb.org. Candidates should include the following materials:

  • a CV (please indicate research area),
  • a dissertation proposal (and current work, if available),
  • a copy of the graduate transcript (an unofficial scanned copy is acceptable), and
  • one letter of reference from an advisor (sent by the advisor to the above-mentioned e-mail address).

Candidates will be notified of decisions by mid-April.

Questions can be directed at research_phdintern@ny.frb.org.
