Gauti Eggertsson joined the Federal Reserve Bank of New York in November 2004 as an Economist in the Macroeconomic and Monetary Studies Function of the Research and Statistics Group. Mr. Eggertsson is a macroeconomist, with special interests in monetary policy. His current research focuses on monetary policy at zero interest rates, interaction of monetary and fiscal policy, political economy foundations of central bank independence and the role of credibility and optimal ambiguity in policy making. Mr. Eggertsson holds a Ph.D. from Princeton University and a BS from the University of Iceland.
