Beginning this year, the Eastern Economic Association (EEA) is conducting the Second District Competition in partnership with the New York Fed. The EEA is a not-for-profit corporation whose object is to promote educational and scholarly exchange on economic affairs.

To make this transition as easy as possible, much of the basic structure of the competition will be unchanged. As in past years, College Fed Challenge teams consist of three to five undergraduates from the same college or university. A team's participation involves two parts: a 20-minute presentation and a 15-minute Q&A session led by a panel of judges comprised of economics professionals, college faculty and/or Fed staff.

The first round of competition will take place at the Sheraton New York Hotel & Towers on Thursday, November 5. Winners will compete in the District semi-final and final rounds at the New York Fed on Friday, November 20. As before, the Second District’s winning team will compete in the national finals at the Federal Reserve Board in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, December 2.

There will be no separate upstate events and competition this year; upstate participants will attend orientation and compete in New York City with the rest of the field. As in past years, two-year colleges will compete in their own bracket.
