Area: Bank Supervision
|
|
Why the Fed? |
| I joined the Federal Reserve because of its unique position as the U.S. central bank which in turn offers a broad and unique perspective, especially given the Bank’s role in the supervision of some of the world’s largest financial institutions. |
Challenges and Rewards of My Job |
| The complexity of financial markets and products continues to evolve rapidly which leads to our supervision of more complex financial institutions. As a result, Bank Examiners need to continue to hone their knowledge of these markets and products. The Bank Supervision Group offers opportunities to perform intellectually stimulating work for the public good while maintaining a positive work-life balance. The opportunities to give back to the communities we work in through various volunteer activities have been very rewarding. |
How Is the Fed Unique? |
The Fed is unique in that it has a dual role as a central bank and as bank/financial holding company supervisor. This gives the Fed insightful perspective regarding financial stability in the United States, as well as internationally. The Bank Supervision Group also has responsibility for ensuring the safety and soundness of our financial institutions, and thus covers major risks including credit, market, operational, and legal. The opportunity to work on a broad array of issues makes the group an exciting place to work. |
