Why the Fed?

I chose the Fed because when I was a Summer Analyst here, I was challenged by new projects and initiatives. I felt that as an employee of the Fed I would be afforded an opportunity to expand my knowledge and experience as well as the opportunity to adapt to new challenges within an established organization.

My Responsibilities

Currently, I am the Budget Analyst for the Accounting Department for which I prepare the annual budget submission and analyze the monthly expenses and research significant variances to be used to prepare an analysis commentary for management team meetings. I have recently joined a newly formed Control group where my main responsibility will be on the Sarbanes-Oxley efforts of the Bank.

Challenges and Rewards of My Job

I have been afforded the opportunity to take part in many special projects and training sessions within the Financial Management division. My participation has allowed me to gain a vast amount of knowledge about the Bank and the roles of many other business areas and how they relate to the financial statements of the Bank. The most challenging aspect of my job is keeping up-to-date and informed of new accounting initiatives that have an effect on financial reporting.

How Is the Fed Unique?
Working for the Fed allows me to not only focus on my direct assignments but to have the opportunity to branch out and gain a better understanding of the Fed and its role as a central bank. The Fed does not limit me and continues to provide challenging opportunities that help to expand my knowledge base.
