Why the Fed?

With a background in economics, I joined the Fed to fill the gaps in my understanding of its central role in striving to foster a smooth running economy. I hope to develop a broad perspective on the financial sector to establish my long term academic and professional goals. The training sessions, tuition programs, access to interesting market analyses and the ability to move across departments enable academic, personal and professional growth. As a parent, I find that the Fed’s accommodating, family-friendly environment helps me strike a balance between my personal and professional life.

My Responsibilities

Our group is the epicenter for communication to the outside world. In this role, I

  • respond to public inquiries about the Fed and its operations, statistical data, bank application requests and other general questions,
  • compile data for weekly statistical releases,
  • deliver presentations on the Federal Reserve System to high school, college, banking and community groups, and
  • draft circulars on issues relevant to second district banks.

Challenges and Rewards of My Job

Giving lectures facilitates good insight into the functions of the Federal Reserve System, in particular the New York Fed’s implementation of monetary policy. My interaction with different departments of the Bank helps me gain an overview of their functions.
